BEHAVIORAL EVALUATION SERVICES

Behavioral evaluation services are available to help parents and school systems better understand a student's strengths and challenges, to identify the function of any problem behaviors and to provide guidance on behavioral interventions. The following services are available upon request:

  • Behavior Observation Reports: Behavior observation reports provide a description of a person’s strengths and challenges at home or in the classroom. These reports may be used to point out behavioral issues when referring a child for clinical diagnosis with a developmental pediatrician or psychologist, or to provide useful information to a school system when determining special education services or 504 accommodations.
  • Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA's): This is a thorough behavior evaluation process that determines the function of problem behaviors. This involves review of developmental records, interview of caregivers and/or teachers regarding problem behaviors, direct observation of the client and manipulation of variables that affect the behavior. The assessment concludes with a summary report describing the function of problem behaviors and a behavior plan for treatment.
  • Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales-III: These are parent and teacher rating scales for ages birth to adult, completed through an interview process with a behavior analyst. These behavior scales provide a comprehensive summary of adaptive behavior. The Vineland provides ratings on Communication, Daily Living Skills, Socialization, and Maladaptive Behaviors. Gross motor and fine motor skills may also be rated for children up to age 7. The summary report provides age-based levels of adaptive behavior, recommendations for next steps to support development. The Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales can also be repeated in later years to evaluate a client’s progress compared to their initial ratings.
